The Formula Behind the AeroBarrier X1 Sealant
AeroBarrier X1 sealant is a stable, non-toxic, airborne-applied, waterborne acrylic sealant. It is atomized into small particles that deposit only at the leak sites and build to form a complete and tight seal, remaining firmly in place for years while staying completely pliable and flexible.
The X1 sealant:
• Ultra-low in VOC – no off-gassing
• GreenGuard Gold certified and is safe to use in any type of building
• Built Green certified
• No flame spread / no smoke spread
• Made in Canada
Certification
The AeroBarrier sealant is based on a waterborne acrylic that has been used as a fluid-applied permeable air barrier for many years. The sealant is GREENGUARD Gold certified and has been tested according to various ASTM standards and NFPA 285 for fire spread, smoke production, adhesion, antifungal properties and tensile strength. The sealant is ultra-low VOC and has no off-gassing.

Ensures that this product is acceptable for use in environments such as schools and healthcare facilities. Recognized by both The Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) and the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Building Rating System.

This product may help earn points under the following checklist item:
3.10 Insulation used is third-party certified to have zero or ultra-low formaldehyde (less than 0.008 ppm) or GREENGUARD Gold product.
No Flame / Smoke spread
Tested to the following standards:
• ASTM E84 – Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials
• ASTM C719 – Standard Test Method for Adhesion and Cohesion of Elastomeric Joint Sealants Under Cyclic Movement
• ASTM D543 – Chemical Compatibility
Following the fifty cycles of flexing and accelerated aging, simulating a 50 year period of service, Aerobarrier’s sealant showed no evidence of cracking, crazing, or spalling.
